Great memories, meatloaf where indeed utter crap, female singer kept coming in at completely the wrong time, Scorps were shit hot, Purple fucking loud, remember everyone going through gates with shed loads of booze as no checks, also someone dancing with a bloody great python round there neck, biblical rain and a young lady promptly taking a dump right in front of monitors, left for long wet/muddy walk back to catch train to the sound of smoke on the water! cheers

Great write-up…we didn’t get drunk sadly but a great day. We had to push our coach out of the mud and got back in Birmingham at 6am and then get the bus back home to Wolverhampton for 9am…the quadraphonic sound for Smoke on the water was amazing…Happy days!!

I was there, my only time of seeing Purple with Blackmore having got into them just as they split in 1976 but we did get three other great bands to follow in Gillan, Rainbow and Whitesnake, Purple played a great set but I was so far back the wind was affecting the sound at times. Good supporting bill as well, was a fan of Blackfoot, Scorpions and UFO plus if I remember rightly Bernie Marsden was in Alaska ?

I do remember (bits of) the festival , UFO were great , Meatloaf, in plaster, getting bottled to death , getting hit in the face by something and falling over (best bit of his set) standing up and shouting to someone in the crowd he was gonna come down and f*** his girlfriend. Scorpions were great . Pissed it down and bottles of piss flying everywhere. Waiting flipping ages for Purple to come on . There were 5 of us in a mk1 fiesta (drove down from Huddersfield) and all too wrecked to drive anywhere afterwards so we tried to sleep in the car which was impossible and insanitary!! . All good fun .
