can anyone remember Motley Crue playing the palais nottingham, I was their but didnt save my ticket ,think it was warm up gig before playing at Monster’s of Rock, Donington 1984, it was unbelievable great, does anyone have any memories, of this ?

Your theory might be right.

I’ve been struggling to think why I didn’t go in 85 – can only assume it was money related because the lineup was ok, but nowhere near as strong as 84. I can’t wait until time travel is invented cos I’ll be heading back Donington in the 80s at some point! 🤣

Slightly off topic, but I think one problem with the 1985 festival was that the final line-up wasn’t confirmed until quite late in the day. When I found out that Magnum and Metallica had been added I suddenly decided that I wanted to go, but couldn’t get a seat on any of the coaches running from Oxford. 1984 was my first Donington as well (I was really into Accept at the time). Great review. Thanks. 🙂

1981 was my first of many . I was too young to go on my own however I had a cool Mam who took me. I’d ran away from home on 1978 to see the AC/DC with Bon Scott . However I didn’t see him as I was picked up by police and spent the night in a police cell waiting for angry parents. My Mam fearing I was going to flit off on my own again decided to take me. Cool 😎 Mam 🙏RIP.

In reply to John Wells. Amen to that brother....especially your comment about beer prices. £11 for a ticket was also very reasonable at the time for the quality and quantity of bands on offer (I was paying an average of £4.50 to see a band at the Concert Hall in Nottingham around the same time).
