Recollections from my Record Collection (No 1)

At the start of 2022 I purchased my first turntable in over 30 years. Since then I have been slowly working my way through the record collection I built up during the 1970s and ’80s and which has been stored away in various garages and attics over the years.

Most of my vinyl records are classic rock and heavy metal albums since this was my music of choice as a teenager (and even younger in the case of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin!) When the 1990s came along, and my first CD player was purchased I started opening my ears to other genres of music and my tastes today, now in my mid-50s, can only be described as eclectic!

However, this recent ‘vinyl voyage of rediscovery’ has made me realise that ROCK MUSIC is still very much running through my veins and will never leave me. Listening to these great old albums again in their original form, complete with all their little clicks and crackles, has taken me on some fantastic trips down Memory Lane – often with a beer or a glass of red when my wife Caroline has gone to bed! Sharing these memories with my Instagram followers (now over 1600 over you and counting!) has also become a bit of a hobby and I love being part of that #vinylcommunity.

Here is a selection of the albums I’ve been spinning over the past couple of months. If you’d like to read what I’ve said about them and the reactions they have been getting from followers, come and join us on the Music in the Attic Instagram HERE. There’s loads of records on there, as well as the usual concert tickets, vintage T-shirts and other music nostalgia and I will soon be sharing more of my old 7″ singles, cassette tapes and possibly even some CDs (yes, I have kept all those too!)
