I’ve been going to music festivals since 1984 when I was a teenage rocker (with hair!). My first festival was Status Quo’s ‘End of the Road’ – a red hot day at the Milton Keynes Bowl and supposedly their last ever concert (yeah, ok!).
I went to the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington 4 times in the 80s, including arguably the UK’s greatest ever one day rock festival in 1984 and the infamous Donington crush in 1988 when two young metal heads lost their lives.
In the 90s (when my musical tastes had expanded) I started going to Glastonbury – a festival which would become a huge part of my life for the next 20 years and introduce me to so many great artists and different genres of music.
