I went to Glastonbury for 20 years between 1997 and 2017, amazingly missing out on tickets just once (the rivers of mud festival in 2005!)
I’ve managed to piece together every programme, mini guide, ticket and mud-spattered wristband that’s been hidden away in boxes up in my attic for years (see them all here!) Sadly my addled old brain is incapable of piecing together enough memories to write a review for each year so here’s some great footage and photos I have found from Glastonbury 2014.
This was the year that will be remembered for Heavy Metal getting top billing at Glasto for the first time when rock gods Metallica headlined the rainy Pyramid Stage on Saturday night – and boy did they rock it! There was another strong lineup in 2014 with Canada’s excellent Arcade Fire headlining the Friday night and Leicester rockers Kasabian closing the festival on Sunday night. Other highlights this year included Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant on the Pyramid, Interpol (who were perfect for an atmospheric ‘sunset slot’ on the Other Stage on Friday), Crystal Fighters and Wild Beasts in the John Peel Tent and the excellent Public Service Broadcasting and The Wailers on the West Holts stage on Sunday afternoon. My biggest regret is that I didn’t stick around at that stage to see Bonobo’s set – he’s since become a firm favourite in our house but I’ve yet to see him live.
